Allow Me To Re-Introduce Myself

It's been a minute. Time has been flying by with many life changes and blessings. I can't believe it has been a year since we made the big move from Pennsylvania to South Carolina. There have been many ups and downs- not gonna lie, moving was harder than I thought it would be. I feel like we are starting to get in a groove here, so I thought it would be a good time to re-introduce myself.

I have been a Registered and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist for 14 years in Pennsylvania, and now in South Carolina. I also became a Certified Health Coach two years ago to better help clients realize and achieve their individual goals.

Starting up my practice here, in South Carolina, with no connections will be a challenge. However, I am looking forward to meeting new people and building a strong network.

A little background

I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Communication Science and Disorders, with a concentration in Psychology. My Masters degree is from Marywood University in Nutrition and Dietetics. Over the years I have worked with women, infants and children, food allergies, picky eating, disordered eating patterns, teen nutrition, sports nutrition, vegetarian/vegan nutrition, nutrient deficiencies, peri-menopause and other hormonal changes, weight management, chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes, autoimmune diseases, GI and digestive issues, senior care and more. I have also enjoyed menu development, recipe development, meal planning, cooking classes, specialty diets (gluten free, IBS, FODMAP, vegetarian, vegan..), nutrition education, and presentations.

I am passionate about preventing disease. I always laugh when the nurse asks what my family health history is. It would be easier to list what my health history is not because the list is long. This is one of the reasons I got into nutrition in the first place. I understand genetics play a role in our health, but so do nutrition and our daily habits! I wanted to learn everything I could about proper nutrition and how it affects our health and performance (I love sports and want to stay active as long as possible). I wanted to share what I've learned with others, so they can prevent disease and live life to the fullest as well.

Work Present

My practice, kv.nutrition llc, is currently accepting new clients. I can work virtually 1:1 or small group nutrition coaching depending on location and needs. Some of my services include nutrition coaching, individual and family meal planning services, comprehensive metabolic testing (utilizing a body gem device) to determine your individual calorie and macro needs, body composition tracking, menu and nutrition education review, and group nutrition 'chats'. I accept self-pay, health benefit cards, and can provide super bills for insurance re-imbursement. I am in network with First Choice of Aetna and United Health Care. I am looking to become a future provider for other insurances as well.

As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Health Coach, I believe individualized nutrition coaching is important. One size DOES NOT fit all! Reach out and together, we can come up with a custom plan that works for YOU, keeping your goals in mind.

A Little Bit About My Family

My family means everything to me and this picture sums us up pretty well. We like to have fun together and try not to take ourselves too seriously. We are always up for adventure.

I enjoy running, lifting weights, hiking, biking, swimming, anything outdoors really, and reading. My husband, Rich, cycles, lifts weights, does water sports and can fix most anything! Our 14 year old, Logan, likes to lift weights (and flex), run, golf, wrestle, and more. Our 12 year old, Reese, cheers, dances, is always up for trying a new sport (except hiking, she hates hiking), or sitting on the couch watching tv (the struggle is real!). I feel like a taxi driver some days running them around everywhere, but wouldn't change it for anything. My mom (likes reading & crosswords, flowers and walking) made the big move to South Carolina and lives with us as well! In addition, we have two crazy dogs, Ryder and Sky. Our home is definitely full!

My life as a mom and wife is wonderfully busy and I think it helps me as a nutrition coach. I can especially relate to feeding picky eaters, fueling teen athletes (and adult), eating on the go, and meal planning!! In addition, my family history (diabetes, heart disease, obesity, thyroid disease, cancers...you name it) provides me with the drive to help others prevent disease and live happy, healthy lives.

So that's it for now- a brief introduction. I think its important to know a little something about the person you trust your nutrition and health with! Do you have any nutrition and/or health and fitness goals? Reach out to me if you think we could be a good fit! I'd love to hear from you- Take Care, Kathy
